Unseen Guests: Capturing the Paranormal with FLIR Thermal Cameras
Paranormal investigations often lead us into the unknown-abandoned houses, shadowy hallways, or centuries-old buildings that seem to breathe with their own secrets. But every once in a while, you capture something that sends a chill deeper than any cold spot ever could.
One of our investigators, Brent, recently had such an encounter at the haunted Dixie House. His guests hadn’t entered the room we call the Library, also known as Jack’s Room, for about an hour, but when Brent decided to take a picture with a thermal camera, he captured something unexplained.
As he scanned the room, the image clearly revealed a leg-shaped and seat heat imprint on the edge of one of the library chairs. It was as if someone, or something, had just been sitting there… waiting.
There were no living people in the room. No drafts. No residual heat from guests. Just the unmistakable shape of a still warm human leg in vivid thermal detail.

Why Thermal Cameras Matter in Paranormal Investigations
Thermal imaging has become an essential part of the modern ghost hunter’s toolkit. Spirits are believed to manifest through changes in temperature, and thermal cameras can detect these subtle shifts with precision.
Unlike standard video or still cameras, thermal imaging devices don’t rely on light- they capture the infrared energy emitted by all objects. That means you can spot anomalies even in total darkness, whether it’s a cold spot hovering in a hallway or, like in Brent’s case, the warm imprint of a mystery guest.
