Ghost Hunters Equipment at New Orleans ParaCon 2026

There are some events where you show up, set up your booth, talk to a few people and pack everything back up.

And then there are events like New Orleans ParaCon.

We recently had the opportunity to attend New Orleans ParaCon 2026, and it was an incredible weekend filled with paranormal enthusiasts, investigators, personalities, creators, customers and plenty of conversations about all things spooky.

For us, one of the best parts wasn't just getting our equipment in front of people. It was getting to meet the people who use it.

We got to meet new investigators, reconnect with valued customers and talk with people who have been following Ghost Hunters Equipment for years. We heard investigation stories, answered equipment questions and, of course, spent a lot of time talking about the latest and greatest tools for paranormal investigations.

And we even had the opportunity to meet the one and only Patti Negri, the well-known psychic medium and paranormal personality.

It was a fantastic weekend, and we wanted to share a few of our favorite moments and observations from ParaCon 2026.

Meeting the Paranormal Community

One of the reasons we love attending paranormal conventions is that there is nothing quite like talking to investigators face-to-face.

Online, you can read about someone's investigation.

You can watch their videos.

You can see the equipment they use.

But there's something different about standing across a table from another investigator and hearing them tell you about the strangest thing they've ever experienced.

That's what makes events like New Orleans ParaCon so much fun.

We met people who were completely new to paranormal investigation and were looking for their first pieces of equipment. We also met experienced investigators who knew exactly what they wanted and wanted to talk about the newest technology available.

And then there were our customers.

It's always a great feeling when someone walks up to the booth and says, "I've bought from you before!"

Those conversations mean a lot to us.

Ghost Hunters Equipment has been serving paranormal investigators for more than two decades, and seeing customers continue to use our equipment on their own investigations is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

And Yes... We Had Some Equipment Conversations

Of course, you can't bring a booth full of paranormal equipment to a paranormal convention without people wanting to play with the gear!

We brought a variety of equipment to ParaCon, and it was great watching investigators get hands-on with the devices.

One of the biggest advantages of attending a convention is that you can actually see equipment in person.

You can ask questions.

You can compare devices.

You can find out what something does before spending your money on it.

And you can talk to people who actually understand paranormal investigation equipment.

That's something we think is incredibly important.

There is a LOT of ghost hunting equipment available online today. Some of it is excellent. Some of it is questionable. And some of it is simply a repackaged gadget being marketed as paranormal equipment.

We'd rather help investigators understand what they're buying.

The K2 Conversation Came Up... A Lot

One interesting conversation that came up several times during ParaCon involved the K2 meter.

The authentic K-II became one of the most recognizable pieces of paranormal investigation equipment ever made. Its simple LED display made it easy for investigators to see changes in electromagnetic fields, and years of paranormal television helped make it a staple in ghost hunting.

The problem is that the original authentic K-II is no longer being manufactured.

That means genuine K-II meters have become increasingly difficult to find.

Unfortunately, there are also plenty of inexpensive meters being sold online that look like a K2 but aren't authentic K-II meters.

We were surprised by how many people still believed those knockoffs performed the same way as a genuine K-II.

They don't necessarily have the same components, construction or response characteristics as the original.

That's why we always recommend knowing exactly what you're buying when it comes to paranormal equipment.

Still Want a K2-Style Meter? Check Out the X5

If you missed your opportunity to purchase an authentic K-II, don't worry.

The X5 is the next generation of the classic K2-style meter.

The X5 gives investigators a modern option for detecting and observing electromagnetic field changes without having to track down an increasingly scarce authentic K-II.

If you're just getting started in paranormal investigation, the X5 is also a great way to add a straightforward EMF meter to your equipment kit.

And if you're an experienced investigator who has worn out an old K2 or simply wants a modern replacement, the X5 is worth a look.

Paranormal Equipment Isn't One-Size-Fits-All

Another thing we enjoyed discussing at ParaCon was how differently investigators approach their investigations.

Some investigators are heavily focused on environmental readings.

Others are interested in spirit communication.

Some want traditional equipment.

Others want to experiment with newer technology.

That's why we carry such a wide variety of paranormal investigation equipment.

For example, the Para4ce POD-TAD combines a REM-style proximity detector with temperature-anomaly detection, giving investigators two different types of environmental information from one device.

The HEXBOX offers multiple scanning modes and features designed for investigators interested in experimenting with spirit communication.

For investigators interested in traditional spirit box sessions, we carry options such as the SB7 Spirit Box and SB11 ANC.

And for those looking to take their investigations into the visual realm, equipment such as SLS cameras and thermal imaging cameras can add another layer of information to an investigation.

Then there are tools like REM-style devices, static detectors, portals and other specialized equipment that can be incorporated into a more advanced investigation setup.

The important thing isn't to have the biggest equipment bag.

It's to have the right equipment for the way you investigate.

What Makes Good Paranormal Equipment?

That's a question we get all the time.

Our answer?

You should understand what the equipment is designed to detect, know what environmental factors can affect it and understand how to properly interpret what you're seeing.

A flashing light isn't automatically a ghost.

A temperature change isn't automatically a spirit.

An EMF spike isn't automatically paranormal.

Good investigators document what happened, look for environmental explanations and use multiple tools to see if different pieces of evidence correlate.

That's why we encourage investigators to build their equipment kits around different types of detection rather than relying on one device.

ParaCon Was About More Than Equipment

While we obviously love talking about ghost hunting equipment, that's not really what made New Orleans ParaCon special.

It was the people.

It was meeting investigators who are passionate about what they do.

It was hearing stories from customers who have taken our equipment into some fascinating locations.

It was meeting people we've only interacted with online.

It was introducing newcomers to equipment and answering those first questions that every investigator has when they're getting started.

And it was getting to meet some of the incredible people who make up the paranormal community—including Patti Negri.

Being able to step away from the computer and spend a weekend surrounded by people who share our interest in the paranormal is something we genuinely appreciate.

We Held a Raffle at ParaCon—and We Have a Winner!

One of the highlights of our New Orleans ParaCon 2026 weekend was our Para4ce Investigation raffle! We gave one lucky attendee the chance to win a two-hour Para4ce Investigation at our very own Dixie House in St. Augustine, and we were thrilled to see so many people enter. Congratulations to Victoria Cunningham, our lucky winner! We can't wait to welcome Victoria to The Dixie House and see what she discovers during her investigation!

Thank You, New Orleans!
