Paranormal Activity Escalates at Dixie House

One early evening, our guide Lew arrived at the notoriously haunted Dixie House with two guests from the Everdark Express tour. As part of our regular investigation setup, he switched on the REM Pod, one of the most trusted tools in our paranormal gear lineup. Immediately, the device lit up yellow-completely silent at first. Then, the green light began flashing rapidly, and it let out its signature tone, signaling possible spirit interaction.

Lew then attempted to use the SLS camera, another key piece of ghost hunting tech designed to detect human-like shapes that aren't visible to the naked eye. Even though its battery was fully charged, the camera kept shutting off. This immediately made Lew think of Marvin-a well-known spirit at Dixie House with a reputation for tampering with equipment. In past investigations, Marvin has been blamed for shutting down the SLS mid-use, changing the settings on the Portal V5 spirit box, and even making ghostly no-caller-ID phone calls to startled guests.

The REM Pod continued to behave strangely. Its lights cycled rapidly-green, yellow, blue, and pink-before suddenly locking onto a solid red light. The device held that steady tone for about five seconds, a clear sign that something was making direct contact with the antenna. Then, just as abruptly, it shut off entirely. Even the power light went dark. Lew changed the batteries, but the REM Pod refused to power back on.

Looking to try a different approach, Lew grabbed a mini Maglite flashlight to attempt the classic flashlight communication method. But oddly enough, that began malfunctioning too.

Soon after, fellow investigators Tommy and Leah arrived to begin setting up for a Para4ce Investigation. Lew filled them in on the activity, noting this kind of interference is nothing new at Dixie House. In fact, during a previous session, investigator John had his REM Pod completely shut down mid-investigation-a moment caught on video and shared on our YouTube channel.

Tommy brought out a backup REM Pod we keep on-site and placed it on the same table. Not long after, one of the guests, Michael, commented that it looked like the new REM Pod was "smoking." Lew checked the device but found no signs of heat or any strange smell. When he set it back down, Michael and another guest, Cheryl, both claimed to see the same thing again-a ghostly vapor, like dry ice smoke, curling around the device.

Leah also saw it and described it as "a mist that formed around the top of the REM Pod, twisting into a wisp and wrapping itself around the antenna."

Curiously, the second REM Pod never activated throughout the event. Tommy scanned it using a thermal imaging camera, but everything appeared normal. Leah snapped several photos, hoping to capture the mist, but nothing unusual showed up in the images.

Although no hard evidence was recorded that night, the series of unexplained events and shared personal experiences highlighted just how powerful and revealing professional-grade ghost hunting equipment can be during a live paranormal investigation.
